Precision Helicopter Operations
Helicopters are perfectly suited to perform a variety of difficult tasks. The photos in this set show a MBB BO-105 C with the registration D-HMUG, which - in the spring of 2012 - supported intensive renovation works at the chimney of the combined heat and power plant in Wuppertal-Elberfeld. D-HMUG was used from 1974 to 1999 as "Edelweiss 11" and was based in Munich and Roth at that time. The aircraft was equipped with a rescue winch and could thus be used in mountain rescue operations. In addition, other rescue equipment such as searchlights, an avalanche transceiver and other equipment could be attached. After being replaced by an Eurocopter EC-135 in 1999, the helicopter was taken out of service. D-HMUG was consequently sold to a private company in North Rhine-Westphalia, where it is used for special tasks as documented in these photos. In 2014 it was also used in the RTL TV-action series "Alarm für Cobra 11".
